Position Summary
The VP of Manufacturing reports to the President and is responsible for the direction, planning and execution of the company’s manufacturing operations at two Cleveland, Ohio plant locations.
Responsibilities & Functional Requirements
• Ensure the company's manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed all customer requirements...deliver on time to customer specifications
• Develop and encourage best practices for operational excellence / continuous improvement within the manufacturing function and with all cross functional interfaces....measure and drive performance of manufacturing-based KPI's
• Motivate, train, develop and recruit a highly productive salaried and hourly workforce...bring out the best in our people.
• Enhance the company's "flex" capacity via balanced make vs buy decision making....quick response to the competitive landscape of our make-to-order project and repair businesses.
• Plan, initiate and implement Capital Expenditure projects that are consistent with the company's strategic intent and need for cost, quality and speed competitiveness.
• Lead the company's plant safety and compliance programs...communication, measurement and training.
• Be a key boundary-less member of the company's senior leadership team...responsible for production planning, cost estimating, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing and quality functions.
Skills/Qualifications
• A minimum of 10 years experience in operational / manufacturing management in both make-to-order and flow production environments.
• BS in Engineering - Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred. Advanced degrees viewed favorably.
• Hands-on knowledge of and successful experiences with utilizing best practice manufacturing methods and procedures including lean and six-sigma.
• Strong personal values... unyielding integrity, self starter and team player committed to making a positive difference everyday
• Strong leadership traits... excellent work ethic, ability to energize associates to higher performance standards and ability to communicate in large and small groups up and down the organization.
• Solid business / financial acumen... good understanding of profit and loss statements, cash flow and associated key ratios.
